FTP Instructions

FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is an open standard and is the recommended method of getting files uploaded to your website.  The following are basic configurations for popular FTP utilities.

Things you need to know

Before you get started, you should know your basic settings needed to get into our servers.

In your welcome letter you will see a section for FTP information. The FTP information will contain an IP address (such as 204.10.137.xxx) and also your domain (mydomain.com).  If your domain is already setup and pointed at us, its is recommend to use your domainname as your host address.  If you just signed up and nothing is pointed yet, you will need to use your IP address to get started.

You will also notice a username and password.  Take note of these because you will need them later.

For Microsoft Windows, you may need to disable passive mode FTP. This is due to higher security configurations setup on our Windows Servers.
